Way back in November 2007, I had an idea of blogging in mundane detail about my day. I’d already been doing it since 2004, when I started blogging, but I decided to set myself days for Day In The Life posts. Then I invited friends to join in so I could satisfy my urge to know about the daily goings on with them.
It’s continued for all this time and I’m happy to say that lots of people have picked it up and now all sorts of people join in. Instead of me setting the days, now the baton is passed from person to person and that way it spreads and more people join in and we get a diverse range of days to read about.
To make it easier for people to read the entries, I’ve decided to collate everything here on this page so that there’s always a central point to find out when the next day is, who is picking it and a link to the blog posts, too.
Marceline has also designed a blog button for people taking part to use too:
And there’s an Instagram-friendly image too:
You can use this on your blog or website or social media and link it back to the Day In The Life page here for prospective readers/joiners-in.
There is no obligation to blog on every DITL – in fact, you can do it once, whenever you feel like it, every time – it’s really up to you.
The format of your blog post is also entirely your choice – some people timecode it and go into minute detail. Others take photos, and I’ve even been known myself to offer a pie chart rather than words.
So, I hope you’ll join in and keep the tradition going!
