Well, it is about time I put you out of your misery and made with the news.
There is no easy way of breaking this to you, so I will just come out with it: I am moving to Thailand for 6 months. Yes, that’s right – I am going to live on the other side of the world!
Regular readers will know that the company I work for presently has an office in Bangkok and that I have previously been out there twice to do training for the staff there. I really had a ball when I was there and now I have been offered an opportunity to go out there for a more permanent job. It is for 6 months initally, with possible extension, but I am very much looking at it as 6 months then home. I couldn’t survive without my beautiful husband for much longer than that!
Yes, that’s right – I am going alone. It is probably going to be the hardest thing of all, leaving Lee behind. We can’t afford to both go and earn Thai wages and also there’s the flat and everything. So we will both be a bit lonely! I will miss him very, very much. I will also miss all my friends of course! But especially Lee, as he is my constant companion!
Gosh, I have gone all weepy again. I have been an emotional wreck this past week – it’s been a real roller coaster. I’m so excited that I feel like I could barf on command but also sad and nervous to be leaving Lee and Jo and Mar-c and Catherine and … well everyone. I hope that everyone will come and visit me. It will be fun, I promise. Come in April when Songkran is on.
Most of my time is taken up with day dreaming about this now and worrying how I will get on with the heat, the people, the homesickness and packing enough stuff for 6 months! Stay tuned for more exciting news as it happens!
